The Direct Hit has been effectively fixed, while I do not think it should be allowed back mid season, I have no problem with it being allowed next season. The Buff Banner has also been changed, but I think still may be a little OP, until you realize sollies have to give up the shotty boom bottie to get it.
I say let them both in again. Post edited by shdw.puppet at 1/27/2010 1:23:19 AM

As a scout DH can be a pain, but I'll concede it's certainly not OP or game ruining, so I say allow it.
BB has never been problematic for me in scrims. I understand people's caution, but I think once people get used to it, they will see that it's perfectly acceptable.

I would say the only real debate is if the Sandman should be let back in and a blanket everything is allowed.. It seems fairly reasonable at this stage after all the adjustments..
DH/BB are fine for next season.

I think everything should be allowed. The DH and Sandman have been fixed. The BB is overpowered when it comes to pushes, but the lack of a shotgun combined with the fact that the enemy team can counter with their own BB means that it won't break competitive. The BB percentage will become a factor like the Uber percentage, and I don't see that being an issue.

The only thing I can't understand is why the DH effectively rewards something that's much easier by making airshots minicrits. If they removed minicrits I'd be all for allowing it but as it is it's complete and total rape on any map with verticality to it at all (namely Gpit, though Gran mid is also notable).

Allow all unlocks. Limit one buff banner per team.
Allow two demos. Limit one sticky launcher/SR per team.

Allow everything, banning things is a terrible philosophy. Sandman has been nerfed to an acceptable level and should be reintroduced imo.
I'm against limits also. If a team wants to run 2 Buff Banners, let them.

Yeah I totally don't get the BB limit thing. Double buff banner seems like it would ridiculously hinder your team's DM and wouldn't really help that much more than a single BB. If I was against a team with BB, I'd probably be _happy_ if they went double BB. Why does it need a limit?

I still think the buff banner could use another nerf, but it wouldn't break competitive play if we allowed it. I also think the sandman should be allowed now. It's practically useless anyway after all the nerfs, and I doubt most comp scouts are going to drop 15 health for a chance to stun people for a couple of seconds anyway.

Another vote for allowing all unlocks (including the sandman) for the start of season 6 (and for the unlock decision to be made as soon as possible). Only after people play with all this stuff and try to be creative with the uses and countermeasures can a claim really be made that something is overpowered.
I think the main fear behind allowing unlocks though is some people fear they won't be able to adapt to different things as well or quickly as other teams and become frustrated over the fact that some outside force (Valve) can alter the the (imaginary) ranking of teams.
Now I believe the response time to adapt to unlock changes for half of the primary 6v6 lineup shouldn't be able to alter rankings of a season that has progressed as far as TWL Season 5 has, but there's no reason to add management overhead of dealing with locked weapons and accidentally playing in a match with a locked weapon leading to disputes or trying to remember what's banned in which league. By the time Season 6 starts, people should be over the fear of getting rolled by another team that used to be inferior because they used unlocked weapons more effectively. The more likely reason a team that used to be worse would rise in the (imaginary) rankings is because they simply grew together as a team and just got better at the whole competitive thing.

Just make a vote now and then we can go from there, if everything is 60%+ (or whatever number you admins see fit) yes to allow it, then allow it. If anything is lower then lets talk about it. The community has had plenty of discussions about it, lets start off with a vote this time, and if more discussion is needed then we will have the time for that.
It would be cool if before the next seasons map testing/qualifying started, we actually knew what weapons we are able to use. So I say just put something into action while we still have plenty of time to talk if needed.

getting one shot is bs, and that reason alone I say keep DH banned until that issue is fixed.
Sure it has downsides that you can argue make its extreme lethality at close range balanced but that isn't my issue with it.
