This tournament will involve three weeks of play, and will be available to the first eight teams able to field six person rosters. Degeneration is a mod for Return to Castle Wolfenstein, developed by Tram Design. As some may recall, this mod arrived late in life of RtCW and unfortunately was released on or about the same date as Doom III (and shortly thereafter Half-Life 2). As a result, this well-developed mod never had much opportunity for wide-scale use by the public and (to my knowledge) has not been used for leagues, ladders, or even tournaments apart from Tram Design. Till now ... The quarter-final and semi-final rounds of the TWL RtCW Degeneration Tournament will utilize the Assault game style for the regular competition rounds. The winner will be the first team to score three rounds out of a possible four rounds in Assault game style. In the event of a tie after four rounds of Assault game style competition, a final Team Death Match round will be played to determine the winner of the competition. The final round of the tournament will consist of four rounds in Assault game mode. In the event of a tie after the first four rounds, a single round of Degeneration (dual-objective, standard) game style will be played to determine the winner of the competition. Effort will be made to provide WTV and shoutcasting for the final event. Match night is anticipated to be Sundays. The tournament dates will be announced when it is apparent enough teams will be joining. The sooner the better. Servers will be provided by TeamWarfare (courtesy of V1x3n) and also hopefully via Tram Design and other participating teams. Teams interested in participating in this tournament should message NiteSwine via IRC (#twl_rtcw on gamesurge.net) and follow-up with an e-mail message, listing at least six teammates committed to the roster. The tournament sign-up will be invite only, based upon contacts and submissions made to NiteSwine. Representatives from Tram Design (namely Tunnleram and Codey) will be invited to participate in the development of this tournament -- I expect they'll join up, too, and show us how this mod is played. TeamWarfare is interested in supporting this mod beyond this tournament; ideas and suggestions for leagues and ladders are requested. A follow-up post will provide proposed server configuration(s) as well as client-side commands, cvars, and scripts. Eligibility requirements for players is the same for all other leagues, ladders, and tournaments hosted by TeamWarfare.

In response to some requests, I can entertain running this on Wednesdays, if and only if we have this tournament before the next OSP season starts. It would seem Sunday isn't as good as during the week for many. Post edited by NiteSwine at 4/5/2006 12:13:10 PM
