I know because your team is pretty terrible, you will never really understand what Im trying to say, but I played this game as a hobby. I continue to play this game because of the money that is being offered in tournaments, leagues and LANs. My "kids" that I actually don't have, as I am a student at a university, would never starve due to a newfound method of earning money, also known as working.
No, gaming isn't and may never be a mainstream ocupation for most regular players, but the ability to play for money and pride, like any other hobby, is most definitly there.

My parents signed me up for 2142 leagues cause i never got to play T-Ball as a kid. They are so proud now!
