Yeah, he didn't give away much, and most of it was Special Forces stuff, but we did get a few things:
-He admitted that being hit by a vehicle going 1mph and dying is a little hyper, and they ARE looking at a fix for 1.03.
-DICE have NO plans to implement a CTF or any other style of gameplay, they're leaving that to mod makers.
-An idea for an anti-air class was proposed and Ben told us that "I think we feel we can deal with the current community issues surrounding aircraft with other fixes" such as AA implacements, etc., so that's good news, in 1.03
-He said that DICE realized that the name-changing in-game is a huge issue in the community and they are EVALUATING this for an update (likely not 1.03)
-He announced the possibility of unofficial stats for mods and other services (giving hope to the stat sites again)
-He recognizes balancing issues involved with the LAV, blackhawk, and other vehicles and plans for an update in the 1.03 patch.
-He admitted the community needed BFTV to prove prominent on LAN, but he announced no such plans to implement.
-Blowing up commander toys will probably equal a team assist point, one single point, per toy (UAV Sat. Arty)
-ClanHQ has no hope, will not be implemented
-PS2 and Xbox "Modern Combat" will have far better single-player and even more features, kinda pissed me off =/
-Working to produce another 10,000 ranked player slots (cool)
I'm sure the whole transcript is somewhere on xfire, but really, a lotta of the guys interviewing were complete BF2 newbies. I was expecting the hardcore BF2'ers to get picked to ask some better questions but he ate a lotta time answering or commenting on stupid questions.
Anyways, that's all the important shit, I think, there were other things but like I said it was a lotta Special Forces and random stuff.

Awesome man, thanks for the update. Wanna drop some lines about Special Forces for those of us retarded enough to own all BF titles and their expansion packs?

again another sad day for us CTF players, do they realise that more people will by it if it had CTF in it.

In EA logic, extra features hurts sales. Post edited by TheTerminator97 at 8/12/2005 4:49:03 PM

[Ben]: our goal was to make it extremely satisfying to run enemies over with the vehicles
[Ben]: because honestly that was one of my favorite things about BF1942, and I don't think I'm alone here
^^^Rofl this cracked me up. Sad when you think about it though, infantry gets wrecked on by vehicles because some noob liked to run people over in 1942, and that noob now works for EA.
[Xfire]: shintsu asks : Is EA/DICE ever going to fix the major balancing issues? It takes far too many shots from the LAV (and its Chinese and MEC counterparts), the Gattling Gun on the Blackhawk, and the Linebacker to kill a mere soldier
^^^ WTF is this guy smoking, I want some.

Yeah, I think Ben's answer to the balancing issue wasn't what the guy asking the question is expecting. I think they need to work on hit indication but the damage by the LAV and chaingun is right where it oughta be. They only think it doesn't kill in one hit because they may get a few hit indications on the same target, which is what really needs fixing, but even that's still pretty trivial. I think they should fix the friggin overheating, but being so powerful I guess more firepower would gimp infantry, unless they beefed up anti-tank, lol, could be looking at a whole new game.

Looks like noone asked him why trees and mountains made better Anti-Air solutions then the stingers.

I've found out the IGLA and Stingers work best when you're NOT locked on :S...just point at them and fire and follow through..it'll chase them even better.

yeah it was pretty crazy, no moderation in the question chatroom so it pretty much scrolled by faster than you could read, but the balance issues of the jets and anti-air was covered and I think they're alluding to a change in the next patch...
